Vodafone has introduced a new Mobile Internet service through which users can access ‘real internet’ on their mobile phones. The multinational mobile phone operator has developed a technology that enables web pages to be tailored to more than 150 different handsets, making it possible for users to access any and every website. Furthermore, connections are also made faster, since the technology ends up compressing page sizes by ten times.

In a statement issued, Vodafone said that its customers “will experience a significant improvement in the way they access the internet from their phones, coupled with the confidence and freedom to surf whenever and wherever they want without having to worry about the cost thanks to easy-to-understand, great value pricing.

Furthermore, Vodafone added that it will not be necessary for most customers to upgrade their mobiles. “Vodafone Mobile Internet will revolutionise the way our customers use the internet. They now have the freedom to explore a much wider world on an extensive range of handsets, experiencing the familiarity of the internet they previously enjoyed via a computer.

The service is both easy to use and personalise, allowing millions of customers to make the most of their time. For example, eBay customers could miss out on bids because they are not at their computers at the vital moment. With Vodafone Mobile Internet they need never lose out as they can bid from their mobile phones while on the move, said Nick Read, CEO of Vodafone UK.

Speaking about the latest technology, Vodafone’s chief marketing officer, Tim Yates, said, “We never said we wanted to be the first to market; we want to be the best. Customers want to do on the move what they are doing at home on their PCs.

“By compressing the page sizes, it gives the service speed benefits, making it very efficient, said head of content Al Russell. Web pages have been made to appropriately fit on the mobile screen, where scrolling is only necessary for up and down, not left and right.

Boosting its service further, Vodafone has teamed up with renowned websites such as MySpace, eBay, YouTube, Google, Yahoo!, Hotmail and AOL as part of its latest service, implying that millions of Vodafone customers will be able to access the internet through their mobile phone handsets exactly as they would do on a computer.

Though Yates did not reveal any specific amount, he did say that Vodafone’s advertising Mobile Internet would be a ‘significant campaign.’ A consumer advertising campaign is slated to be unveiled in the forthcoming weeks.

Yates would not comment on how much Vodafone would be spending on advertising Mobile Internet, but said it was a ’significant campaign’.

The new Vodafone service comes together with new tariffs that include a ‘data pack’ allowing users to download up to 120MB of data for £7.50 per month, or a daily charge of £1 for 500K, with no further charge unless the day’s usage exceeds 15MB.

Manca poco.

Singapore Airlines’ first A380, which was formally delivered to them on 15 October, left Toulouse at 10:30 p.m. local time on 16 October for the 12 hour and 24 minute flight to the airline’s home base at Singapore Changi International Airport. The aircraft is set to make its first commercial passenger flight from Singapore to Sydney on 25 October.

Ahead of its departure, Singapore Airlines Chief Executive Officer Chew Choon Seng told the media during a question and answer session in Toulouse that the airline’s attention and efforts would now be focused on making sure that its first aircraft is successfully launched.

“We are glad that Airbus took the time to make sure the aircraft is fully tested and developed before it enters commercial service,” he said. “In fact the extra time taken has allowed them to deliver to us what we consider to be a quite mature aircraft. This aircraft has done more test flights and more trials at airports than other aircraft that I have experienced in the last 30 years.”

The A380′s design, Mr Chew said, embodies all the latest technological and aerodynamic advances of the last 30 years making it an aircraft for today and tomorrow. And Airbus president and chief executive officer Thomas Enders echoed these sentiments, stating that he was convinced that the A380 would now be the dominating aircraft in the large aircraft market.

Singapore Airlines is due to receive six more A380s next year. Its second and third A380s, due in early 2008, will be used to fly between London and Singapore. It then plans to operate the next three aircraft on routes to Tokyo, Hong Kong and San Francisco.

Speaking alongside Mr Chew, Thomas Enders reiterated that Airbus is throwing its full support behind the A380 programme as it prepares to ramp-up production and deliver a total of 13 aircraft in 2008. “This programme has the utmost priority in terms of resources at Airbus,” he said, adding that as the processes and resources are all in place, “We have every confidence that we can deliver.”

The 787 Dreamliner Premiere was broadcast live in nine different languages via satellite to more than 45 countries and webcast via www.boeing.com and www.newairplane.com. Distinguished journalist and best-selling author Tom Brokaw served as the master of ceremonies for the event.Approximately 15,000 people attended the Premiere at the Everett, Wash., final assembly factory. More than 30,000 participated via two-way satellite into the event in Everett from Japan, Italy and locations in the United States. As many as 90 other locations around the globe involving 787 customers, partners and many Boeing employees also chose to download the event live or watch it pre-recorded and host their own viewing event.

In all, the 787 Premiere potentially reached 100 million or more viewers, making it one of the largest corporate TV and Internet broadcasts in history.

“This has been a wonderful and exciting day to celebrate this breakthrough airplane with our customers, employees, supplier partners and our communities,” said Scott Carson, Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and CEO. “We are gratified that the 787 has been so strongly validated in the marketplace by our customers. Their response is proof that the Dreamliner will bring real value to our airline customers, passengers and the global air transportation system.”

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the world’s first mostly composite commercial airplane, will use 20 percent less fuel per passenger than similarly sized airplanes, produce fewer carbon emissions, and will have quieter takeoffs and landings.

“Our journey began some six years ago when we knew we were on the cusp of delivering valuable technologies that would make an economic difference to our airline customers. In our business, that happens every 15 or so years, so we have to get it right,” said Mike Bair, Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president/general manager of the 787 program. “I am so proud of the men and women of Boeing and of our partner employees in the 70 companies that have brought this airplane to the passengers of the world.”

Following the premiere, the first 787 Dreamliner will be completed in the Everett factory – including the installation of final systems elements, interiors and flight test equipment. First flight of the airplane is expected in late August or September. A total of six airplanes will be included in the flight test program, which will conclude in May 2008 with the certification of the airplane followed shortly by the first delivery of a 787 to ANA.

To date, 47 customers worldwide have ordered 677 airplanes worth more than $110 billion at current list prices, making the Dreamliner the most successful commercial airplane launch in history. The first 787 is scheduled to enter passenger service in May 2008.

Stork subsidiary Fokker Services of The Netherlands has been named an approved outfitter for Airbus Corporate Jetliners (ACJ), giving customers more choice in cabin completions. The approval follows an extensive Airbus audit and evaluation of the company, which is an experienced cabin outfitter in the corporate jet market. Fokker Services has already won its first Airbus ACJ Family aircraft completion for an Airbus ACJ of the Austria-based Stumpf Group, which is currently in Fokker Services’ Woensdrecht facility. Hans Berends van Loenen, President of Fokker Services says, “we feel very privileged to become an Airbus-Approved Outfitter. Completions is one of the strategic growth areas of our company and the approval will support us in achieving our strategic goals.”

“Strong demand for Airbus Corporate Jetliner Family aircraft means that there is a shortage of cabin outfitting capacity in the market,” comments Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers, John Leahy. “In approving Fokker Services, following a thorough audit of its capabilities, we will be able to offer further choice in this specialised field to our customers.”

To ensure the highest quality in cabin outfitting, Airbus has now approved six worldwide completion centres for the installation of Airbus ACJ Family interiors. A close working relationship with Airbus ensures these completion centres work to deliver quality cabins in the equipped aircraft.

Airbus’ Corporate Jetliner Family now has more than 80 sales to its credit, and is established as the preferred choice at the upper end of the top-of-the-line corporate jet market.

Fokker Services, as the Type Certificate Holder for all Fokker aircraft types, currently supports over 800 Fokker aircraft worldwide with a full range of support services. It is expanding its integrated design, support and manufacturing capabilities to VIP aircraft completions.

Stork Aerospace develops and produces advanced components and systems for the aviation and aerospace industry, and supplies integrated services and products to aircraft owners and operators. The group achieved a turnover of € 549 million in 2006 with 3,532 employees out of the total Stork turnover of € 2.01 billion.

Manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries at its facility in Nagoya, Japan, each wing is 98 feet long. Standing on edge in custom-made tooling, the wings were delivered together to Boeing via the Dreamlifter, a specially modified 747-400 used to transport 787 major assemblies. The 787 is the first commercial aircraft to use composite materials as its primary structure. It is also the first Boeing aircraft featuring an all-composite wing.”A composite wing of this size has never been built before,” said Scott Strode, 787 vice president of Airplane Definition and Production. “This is a tribute to our fantastic team. We believe the Dreamliner sets a new standard for how commercial airplanes will be made in the future.”

The wings were immediately delivered to the 787 final assembly factory. Additional work — including attaching the wingtip and movable surfaces — will be completed by Boeing. The total wingspan of a 787 is 197 feet.

The 787 Dreamliner is the fastest-selling airplane in aviation history, with firm orders for 567 airplanes from 44 airlines.

AerCap has signed a firm contract with Airbus for the purchase of an additional ten A330-200 passenger aircraft, following their order for 20 A330-200s in December 2006. With its proven benefits in terms of economics and a wide customer base, the A330-200 will assist AerCap in the growth of their portfolio. Headquartered in The Netherlands, AerCap is an integrated global aviation company with a leading market position in aircraft and engine leasing, trading and parts sales.

“Since AerCap ordered 20 new Airbus aircraft in December last year, we have already lined up customers for 13 out of the 20 aircraft, in only four months. The order for an additional 10 aircraft will help us to further expand our portfolio in the attractive market for modern, smaller widebody aircraft, and to meet the demands of our global customer base,” commented Klaus Heinemann, Chief Executive Officer of AerCap.

AerCap first ordered 32 Airbus A320 Family aircraft in 1999. This was followed by a large follow-up order for 70 A320 Family aircraft in December 2005, through an AerCap joint venture with LoadAir. Then Aercap ordered 20 A330-200s in December 2006.

“I am extremely pleased that AerCap is finding the A330-200 to be truly competitive in the current market and this additional order provides a clear endorsement of the A330-200 as the right aircraft at the right time. We are very proud that AerCap reinforces its confidence in the A330 with this incremental order,” said Airbus Chief Operating Officer Customers, John Leahy.

The A330-200 is the aircraft of choice for many operators and is the unquestioned leader in its class with a commanding market share and a continually expanding operator base. The A330-200 has excellent flexibility for a wide range of route structures, providing the operator with a very low operating cost per seat as well as the widest and most comfortable cabin in its category. Its proven record of superior economics and passenger comfort provides the operator with a significant competitive advantage in the market today.

With close to 1,200 orders and 88 operators, the Airbus A330/A340/A350 Family is the world’s most modern long-range family available today.

The whole paint process took 21 days to complete. Over 2,200 litres of chromate-free paint was used for painting the aircraft that has a surface area of 3100 m². The wafer-thin paint coat measures just 0.12mm and is able to withstand differences in temperatures from 60 to over 40 degrees Celsius.

Airbus is applying the most modern and environmental friendly techniques for the A380 painting process. Electrostatic pistols are used to minimize paint mist. Used air is cleaned and washed through a multi-stage cleaning process to ensure that paint particles are disposed separately.

Singapore Airlines is the launch customer for the A380 aircraft and is scheduled to take delivery of this aircraft in October 2007. The Airline has 19 A380s on firm order.

The aircraft is staying for two days in New Delhi before flying to Mumbai, headquarters of its first Indian customer, Kingfisher Airlines.

The “Gentle Giant” as the Indian media have dubbed it, is coming to India to perform demonstration flights and to help celebrate the second anniversary of Kingfisher Airlines, its first A380 Indian customer. The airline, which has five A380s on order, already operates a fleet of 20 Airbus single-aisle aircraft as well as an Airbus Corporate Jetliner.

In a pattern that has become familiar to the Airbus crews, huge crowds had gathered in and around Indira Gandhi International Airport to watch the A380 do a fly-over, displaying its agility and silent approach before landing. The A380 has already visited more than 40 airports around the globe, demonstrating its ability to take off and land in less distance than other large aircraft and its compatibility with existing airport infrastructure.

The A380 is remaining on static display in New Delhi to allow government, airport and airline officials to visit the aircraft and see for themselves the size and comfort of its cabin. Kingfisher Airlines’ employees, who are already familiar with Airbus aircraft, also have also taken this opportunity to get a first-hand experience of the A380 before delivery of their first aircraft.

India has been chosen as the first destination for the A380 world tour to highlight the strategic importance of the country for Airbus. Airbus’ 2006 Global Market Forecast predicts India will average an annual passenger traffic growth of 7.7 per cent until 2025, and that there will be a demand for around 1,000 aircraft from Indian carriers in the next 20 years.

Since the first order from Indian Airlines in 1974, Airbus has fostered local partnerships and developed long-standing relationships with Indian carriers. Today, Airbus forms the backbone of the Air India and Indian Airlines fleets. In the single aisle sector, Airbus has grown its market share in India from 70% in 2005 to 75% in 2006.

The A380 can fly non-stop from Delhi to New York, allowing an increase in capacity without an increase in airport slots. In its standard three-class configuration, it offers the largest seats in every class, spacious and comfortable cabins on two decks and technological advantages making it more environmentally friendly and economical for operators.

The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] and launch- customer Lion Air today celebrated the delivery of the first Next-Generation 737-900ER (Extended Range) airplane. The airplane was delivered in a special dual paint scheme that combines the Lion Air lion on the vertical stabilizer and the Boeing livery colors on the fuselage. Boeing launched the 737-900ER program in July 2005 when Jakarta-based Lion Air announced the initial order for 30 of the newest 737 model. To date, Lion Air has ordered 60 737-900ERs.”This is a proud day for me and the Lion Air family as we take delivery of the world’s first 737-900ER,” said Rusdi Kirana, president director of Lion Air. “The unprecedented economic advantages, passenger comfort and superior reliability of this airplane are key to our growth as we expand our routes and add new destinations.”

The 737-900ER, the newest member of the Next-Generation 737 airplane family, increases the capability of the 737 by carrying more passengers and flying farther.

“We thank Lion Air for having the confidence and vision to become the launch customer of the 737-900ER,” said Dinesh Keskar, Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president of Sales. “With more range and the lowest operating cost of any single-aisle jet in its class, the 737-900ER will deliver superior economics and premier service to support Lion Air’s strategic expansion plans.”

The twin-engine jet incorporates a new pair of exit doors and a flat rear-pressure bulkhead that allow a maximum capacity of 220 passengers in a single-class layout.

Aerodynamic and structural design changes, including strengthened wings, a two-position tailskid, enhancements to the leading and trailing-edge flap systems, optional Blended Winglets and auxiliary fuel tanks, will allow the 737-900ER to accommodate higher takeoff weights and increase its range to 3,200 nautical miles (5,900 km).

The 737-900ER will have substantial economic advantages over competing models, including 9 percent lower operating costs per trip and 7 percent lower operating costs per seat, and 565 nautical miles more range than the A321, which is more than 10,000 pounds (4,536 kg) heavier. The 737-900ER joins the 737-600, -700, -700ER and -800 airplanes and will share the same industry-leading reliability of the other Next-Generation 737 series models.

As of March 31, 2007, eight customers have placed orders for 104 Next-Generation 737-900ERs, and more than 6,800 orders have been placed for 737s.

Lion Air operates an all-Boeing fleet and is the largest low-cost airline in Asia with traffic approaching one million passengers per month since the airline’s inception in June 2000.

The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] and Jet Airways, India’s largest private airline, on Monday celebrated the delivery of the airline’s first of 10 777-300ER (Extended Range) airplanes. The airplane was delivered in Jet Airways’ new paint scheme, that features a new design, colors and typeface. The airplane will enter service on May 5, commemorating the airline’s 14th anniversary of operations.”Jet Airways’ new design is reflective of our new efforts to take our superior passenger service to international destinations in Europe and the United States,” said Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal. “The combination of the 777-300ER’s positive economics and passenger comfort will help ensure the success and profitability of our growing route structure.”

Jet Airways, which originally placed the order for 10 777-300ERs in September 2005, currently operates 49 Classic and Next-Generation Boeing 737-400/-700/-800/-900 airplanes within its fleet. In December 2006, the airline also placed an order for 10 787 Dreamliners.

“The 777-300ER delivers real advantages and has proven its economic leadership and high level of passenger comfort,” said Dinesh Keskar, Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president of Sales. “We are honored that Jet Airways has selected Boeing’s 777s and 787s to support its international growth strategy.”Â

The 777 family of airplanes is popular with passengers and airlines because of its fuel-efficient twin-engine design, high reliability, low operating costs, and comfortable and spacious interior. The 777-300ER typically carries 365 passengers up to 7,930 nautical miles (14,685 kilometers).

With the 787 and 777, Boeing offers a complete family of airplanes to cover the 200- to 400-seat market segment. With complementary range, speed, efficiency and operational commonality, yet differing seating and cargo capacities, airlines can use both models in their fleets to tailor capacity to meet seasonal demand.

Jet Airways operates more than 330 daily flights to 49 destinations that span the length and breadth of India and beyond including London, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Colombo and Kathmandu.

The 777 family of airplanes is the market leader in the 300 to 400-seat segment, capturing more than 65 percent of that market. Boeing continues to enhance the 777 family with the recent introduction of two new longer-range models and a freighter version currently in development.

European low-cost carrier easyJet took delivery of their 100th Airbus A319 aircraft on April 26th, 2007, following a handover ceremony in Hamburg between Andrew Harrison, easyJet Chief Executive and Louis Gallois, Airbus President and CEO.

The delivery marks easyJet’s rapid Airbus fleet expansion since the first aircraft was delivered less than four years ago in September 2003. Today easyJet operates one of the world’s youngest aircraft fleets and benefits from the latest technology in reduced fuel burn for an environmentally friendlier aircraft. The company has the world’s largest fleet of A319s. The aircraft are powered by the highly reliable CFM-56 engines from CFM-International.

“We have expanded rapidly in the last few years and we are doing this in the most environmentally-responsible way. Our fleet is made up of the cleanest and quietest aircraft available and with average age of 2.2 years which, combined with our high load factors and high seat densities, means we emit 27% less CO2 per passenger kilometre than a traditional airline. An easyJet passenger’s environmental footprint is less than that of the Toyota Prius”, said Andrew Harrison, easyJet Chief Executive.

“We are delighted that our partnership with easyJet is growing from strength to strength. The continuing success of easyJet proves that Airbus aircraft can be introduced succesfully into an already established fleet. The A320 Family has unbeatably low operating costs. It also has the widest fuselage in the single aisle market, which helps with quicker turnaround times, for increased productivity,” said Louis Gallois, Airbus CEO.

easyJet’s total orders so far are for 192 Airbus A319s and purchase rights for 123 more. In December 2002, easyJet signed a groundbreaking transaction for 240 A319 aircraft (120 firm and 120 purchase rights). In December 2005, easyJet exercised 20 of these rights. In November 2006, they exercised a further 52 rights and added a further 75.

The A320 is recognised as the benchmark single-aisle aircraft family, which includes the A318, the A319, A320 and A321. Each aircraft feature fly-by-wire controls and unique cockpit commonality across the range.

With proven reliability and extended servicing periods, the A320 family have the lowest operating costs of any single aisle aircraft in the same category. The latest models feature additional advanced aerodynamics helping reduce fuel burn even further. In addition, the latest new cabin design saves on weight and offers the passenger a quieter and roomier experience as well as significantly larger overhead stowage lockers.

Over 5000 Airbus A320 Family have been sold and over 3000 delivered to more than 180 customers and operators worldwide, making it the worlds best selling single aircraft family ever.

Airbus is an EADS company.

Jet Airways ordered a total of 10 Airbus A330-200s in October 2005.

“Introducing the A330 into our existing fleet will be relatively seamless as we already operate the A340 and two leased A330s which share a common cockpit,” said Naresh Goyal, Jet Airways Chairman. “We chose the A330 because it fits in with our long term strategy to operate efficient aircraft that best fit the mission laid down and to provide our customers with the most modern and comfortable fleet around,” he added.

The airline already operates the A340s and the A330s between India and the United Kingdom and plans to use the A330s on a mix of regional and long-haul international flights.

“With the worlds fastest passenger growth in the near term in India, we are delighted to be a part of these exciting times through our partnership with Jet Airways. The A330 is not only a fantastically efficient aircraft operationally, it offers leading standards of passenger comfort,” said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customer.

With over 1080 orders and a backlog of over 280 aircraft, the A330/A340 Family has become the industry standard in the 250 to 375 seat category. In airline evaluations the A330/A340 Family invariably wins favour for operational efficiency and passenger comfort.

All A330 and A340 family aircraft benefit from Airbus’ unique cockpit and operational commonality. The aircraft share the same cockpit philosophy which helps shorten training times for flight crews transitioning from one Airbus aircraft to another, as well as providing streamlined maintenance procedures and reduced spare parts holdings.

The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] today announced the 500th customer order for the 787 Dreamliner with a follow-on order from Japan Airlines Corp. (JAL). “Today we are celebrating some great news with one of our great customers,” said Scott Carson, president and chief executive officer, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “This is an unprecedented achievement for Boeing and yet another wonderful milestone for the 787 program. We are very gratified that the 787 will play a key role in the future plans of JAL and so many other industry-leading airline customers.”The JAL order for five 787-8 airplanes, in addition to several orders from unidentified customers, brings the 787′s order total to 514 airplanes from 43 customers since its launch on April 26, 2004, making it the fastest-selling commercial airplane in history. This increases JAL’s total 787 order to 35 airplanes from their previous order of 30 in December 2004.

“The 787 will be a key airplane on a variety of international and domestic routes, said Kunio Shimizu, vice president of Engineering & Quality Assurance Department for the Americas, Japan Airlines International Corp. “We are expecting the benefits of the 787 to provide efficiency and flexibility in our route planning and are also looking forward to the wonderful flying experience the 787 will provide to our customers.”

“Surpassing the 500 order mark this early in the program – more than a year before the first airplane is delivered – shows that Boeing made the right choice in our point-to-point business strategy, and that the 787 team made the right choices in designing the airplane,” said Mike Bair, 787 vice president and general manager.” This is an enormous compliment to the people around the world who are working hard to ensure we keep the promises we’ve made to our customers.”

The 787 provides passengers with a better flying experience and operators with a more efficient commercial jetliner. Using 20 percent less fuel per passenger than similarly sized airplanes, the 787 is designed for the environment with lower emissions and quieter takeoffs and landings. Inside the airplane, passengers will find cleaner air, bigger windows, more stowage space and improved lighting.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner will lead the industry into the next generation of flight using the latest in ground-breaking technology to provide airlines with a family of airplanes that allows them to take their passengers where they want to go, when they want to go.

The A380 has completed a highly successful series of route proving flights, underscoring the aircraft’s ability to operate at gateways around the world – while also generating excitement that comes with the introduction of a new way to fly. These latest evaluations involved the participation of A380 customer Lufthansa and were focused primarily on the United States, with the aircraft making visits to New York, Chicago and Washington, D.C. The A380 was given an enthusiastic welcome at each of the American stopovers, and it provided impressive demonstrations of the aircraft’s low noise levels, excellent manoeuvrability and interoperability with various airport runways, taxiways and terminal facilities.

The 12-day commercial route proving missions began with a typical trans-Atlantic crossing for Lufthansa – departing its Frankfurt hub airport on 19 March for New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. The A380 carried more than 400 passengers, touching down to cheers and applause at one of America’s busiest airports.

In the following days, the A380 performed a New York-Chicago roundtrip, an eastbound Atlantic return crossing to Frankfurt, and a long-range flight to Hong Kong. Arriving back at Frankfurt on 25 March, ground crews made a realistic airline turnaround of the aircraft in 95 minutes, readying the A380 for its departure to Washington, D.C. This important demonstration highlighted the A380′s ability to be processed rapidly at the world?s gateway airports, including deplaning and boarding, fuelling, cabin preparation and aircraft servicing.

The A380′s third Atlantic crossing in seven days brought the aircraft to Washington’s Dulles International Airport for a 26-hour visit that included a low-altitude fly-past of the U.S. nation’s capital – placing the 21st century flagship in view of thousands of office workers and tourists. Wrapping up the route proving was a final trans-Atlantic segment from Washington to Frankfurt, followed by a domestic flight to Munich and an intra-European return to Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, France.

These operations were complemented by the 19 March long-range flight of A380 MSN no. 1 from Toulouse to Los Angeles International Airport. The visit enabled Qantas Airways and the Los Angeles airport authority to perform functionality and compatibility checks in preparation for the Australian carrier’s future A380 introduction on its trans-Pacific service.
