Vodafone has introduced a new Mobile Internet service through which users can access ‘real internet’ on their mobile phones. The multinational mobile phone operator has developed a technology that enables web pages to be tailored to more than 150 different handsets, making it possible for users to access any and every website. Furthermore, connections are also made faster, since the technology ends up compressing page sizes by ten times.

In a statement issued, Vodafone said that its customers “will experience a significant improvement in the way they access the internet from their phones, coupled with the confidence and freedom to surf whenever and wherever they want without having to worry about the cost thanks to easy-to-understand, great value pricing�.

Furthermore, Vodafone added that it will not be necessary for most customers to upgrade their mobiles. “Vodafone Mobile Internet will revolutionise the way our customers use the internet. Dopo le indiscrezioni e i rumor circolati nelle scorse settimane, è ormai ufficiale: iPhone sbarcherà presto in Italia con le due principali compagnie telefoniche attive sul territorio nazionale. Con due brevi comunicati stampa, sia Tim che Vodafone hanno, infatti, annunciato l’intenzione di commercializzare il fortunato smartphone sviluppato da Cupertino nel corso dei prossimi mesi. Il debutto dovrebbe spettare in giugno a Telecom Italia, che avrebbe strappato ad Apple alcuni mesi di esclusiva rispetto alla concorrenza.

Al momento gli scarni comunicati stampa rilasciati dalle due compagnie telefoniche non lasciano adito a particolari speculazioni. Sia Vodafone che Tim dichiarano l’intenzione di portare l’iPhone in Italia entro fine anno, senza specificare date precise né tanto meno le possibili modalità di commercializzazione. Mentre per Tim l’accordo sembra essere di puro carattere nazionale, l’ufficio stampa di Vodafone fornisce alcuni dettagli su un’operazione di respiro più ampio, tesa a portare entro fine anno il cellulare di Apple in Australia, Repubblica Ceca, Egitto, Grecia, Italia, India, Portogallo, Nuova Zelanda, Sud Africa e Turchia.
